Connecting The Dots Between Placidus and Whole Signs Systems: Painting A Different Picture From A Different Lens

Now whilst I am not an astrological guru, one thing I have learnt in my journey is the importance of staying open minded. Initially, when I began taking an interest in Astrology the Placidus house system was the first system I knew. Perhaps I could say that overtime I became narrow-minded and reluctant to incorporate other house systems into my studies/research.
When I came across astrologers who used the Whole Signs system, automatically I would already rule out their applications to my birth chart as at the time I didn’t believe that it resonated it. But was this true? Did I just subconsciously rule out all other options because it didn’t fit the narrative that we have been told/read from astrologers who practise Western Astrology? Overtime, this was the house system I would familiarise myself with the most. In all honesty, I believe that the Placidius house system shows us who we are at birth and provides the lens to see this.

Now of course, you must be thinking that I am stating the obvious because birth charts are called birth charts for the very same reason. They paint a picture of the planets and their positions at the time we were born but most importantly as many would argue it is our cosmic blueprint for this lifetime.

My love story with the Whole Sign system began quite recently, and although I had previously known this house system it wasn’t until I felt an intuitive nudge to check my birth chart out in the whole sign system, that I truly began to see the bigger picture and perhaps the version of me right now. Weird right? A devoted Placidus girlie who has a 9H Gemini stellium under this system now leaning into the Whole Sign system and perhaps being able to come around and let go of rigid perceptions that the whole sign system isn’t as accurate as the Placidus system as argued by others. I must also admit that I did feel a shame around not being seen as a “real” astrologer if I didn’t learn how to read charts the Placidus way.
Overtime I’ve learnt that the Placidus system explains some of my innate traits and qualities such as my 9H Lilith and the shame I innately feel around my spirituality and spiritual practises. I also see how the Whole Signs system offers an alternative lens to other parts of me. Such as my 4H moon, and my desire to understand my roots and ancestry. Wanting to revive traditions and cultural practices that had been forgotten about, something about me loves learning and uncovering these things.
Having my natal north node in the 3H and south node in 9H explains a lot. Education and spirituality are things that come naturally to me and are things that I have gone onto practice and study. But my NN wants me to focus on the 3H matters. The practical aspect to communication and storytelling and not getting lost in the philosophies of 9H matters. In all honesty, a lot makes sense. The wound regarding my-self-image having Chiron in the 1H to my 10H Gemini stellium. As the Girlies would say the maths is mathing baby!!!

I believe no system stands alone as I prefer adopting a holistic approach to things. And for this reason, I now like to incorporate both into my chart analysis’s. I also believe that whilst the draconic chart explains who you are at a soul level, I could also draw this comparison with the whole sign system. As an aspiring astrologer and natal chart reader I am slowly beginning to understand that adopting an open mind in this field is essential. Also understanding that just because experts in the field have stated something doesn’t mean it’s verbatim. Seeing esteemed astrologers like thesagitarianmind and thesoulsage incorporate the Whole Signs system in their readings and teachings also illustrates that we all have different methods of using our astro knowledge. Additionally, a special shoutout goes to Shirleywirleyyy who continues to preach the importance of using the Whole Signs system and also did a reading for me a few years back.
This blogpost is not intended to change your perspective at all, neither do I think these kinda changes happen overnight. Authentic change is a process, and therefore I would instead like to encourage you to have an open mind. Very cliché, but so true. Some of our life problems come from being so fixed and stubborn in our ideologies and thoughts and if we’re able to overcome our limited beliefs and thoughts then the possibilities are truly endless. After all, it all begins in the mind and in the tongue.

In Whole Signs, Taurus rules my 9H so naturally I can be quite dogmatic and fixed in my perspectives but I am slowly working on this. Discover it out on your own terms and also allow information to come to you naturally when God and your spirit guides are ready for you to come across the information.
