It’s been a while since my last written post on medium, and for those of you who are returning readers I’d like to thank you for your continued support. For those of you who happen to come across my work for the first time, welcome to my safe space.

It’s a Sun day, and I’ve been feeling quite joyful, playful, and filled with lots of solar energy! And with the upcoming new moon in Aries tomorrow, there is no better day than today to talk about the moon and how we can find emotional fulfilment through embracing our moon sign.

Whilst it is commonly said that our sun sign provides us with fulfilment and creative expression, under close examination and further astrological study, I think fulfilment on a soul level derives from our moon sign and not our sun sign. And in order to return back home to the souls true essence and purpose, we must embrace the qualities of our moon sign.

I do not seek to underestimate the power of the suns energy in our birth chart. However, I believe that we cannot begin the process of returning back home to our soul without looking at the moon.

Our moon sign speaks to how we seek to be nurtured on an emotional and soul level, and also speaks to our emotional needs, how we react to life, and lastly how we seek to approach to life. It speaks to the sensitive part of us, the part of us that we may struggle embracing on this journey called life. Lastly, it is what makes us feel seen, heard, and fulfilled. To understand why I advocate that we are moon signs more than our sun signs, I will give the example of two Gemini suns, who may share the same sun sign but different moon signs, one being a Sagittarius moon and the other a Scorpio moon.

Their expression/outlook on life, in addition to their emotional needs and wants will be different. The Sag moon may be an open book, whilst the Scorpio moon is a little more closed off/hidden with parts of their life. Additionally, the Scorpio moon may go through regular transformations and metamorphosises that are plutonic in nature whilst the Sag moon may undergo transformations in their quest for the truth on their own terms, wanting to learn, share and uncover the mysteries of life with a Jupiterian twist.

I know a Sag sun who is also an Aries moon and being a Sag moon myself I like to think that we share a common understanding because of the similar traits/qualities that we share. But his Aries moon speaks much louder in terms of his outward expression and approach to life. He embodies more Martian traits in his daily approach to life & reaction to life, and quite often I am reminded of his determination to win/be that number one hustler self-made boss, which screams Aries energy to me. Although Sag suns are born to shine in the public sphere, they may at times excessively rely on Jupiter’s luck and not follow through with the required action that is needed to achieve their goals.

Aries on the other hand, is ruled by Mars and Mars is the planet of action. It brings practicality to dreams and fantasies, which echoes the energy he brings to discussions when we speak. Even when I am on my whimsical, he is one to ask those grounding and practical questions which I tend to struggle with at times. Aries is also the first zodiac sign in the zodiac wheel, and Aries season typically coincides with the spring equinox which symbolises the start of the astrological new year and new beginnings. So, whilst I acknowledge the influence of his sag sun, I also appreciate how he naturally embodies more of his Aries moon and ushers forth this energy more outwardly. I also believe that whilst pop/horoscope astrology places a focus on the sun sign, it is often our sun sign that which takes more of a conscious effort to express outwardly. Particularly, if your sun is in an air sign there will most definitely be battle of wills & imposter syndrome that can occur. So, although I am a Gemini sun, I think it has taken more conscious effort for that energy to shine outwardly than it has for the natural expression of my sag moon.

I also like to visually depict abstract concepts as it helps me explain and also make sense of complex theories/perspectives. In this case the sun represents solar energy which shines a light on areas in our chart that need to be seen, whilst the moon represents lunar energy and seeks to illuminate that which is deep seated within us on an internal level. I believe the solar energy deals with the external and lunar energy deals with that which is within and perhaps there isn’t method to this madness…but this is how I view it.

Now this is not me saying that other placements/aspects/signs don’t matter, but when we are exclusively looking at how one may find fulfilment at a soul and emotional level and return back home to their soul, the moon illuminates these key journeys and following your lunar path may not eradicate all of your problems, but it will move you towards the path of authenticity and fulfilment. Because the worst feeling is feeling uninspired and unfulfilled, and I dive deeper into my astrological studies and experiences I see

Esteemed astrologers like madewmagik argue that our moon is our personality and bigempressenergy suggests a friendly reminder that we are more than our sun sign. Whilst we all have different perspectives, the most important thing above all else is to respect everyone’s viewpoint even when it is different from our own.
