Sun Opposite Sun Synastry
Today I’ll be talking about sun opposite sun synastry and what better day than a Sun day to do this! Before I begin I’ll like to state a brief disclaimer below!!! All views and observations are based off my own experiences of the energy and as always this does not mean this is how you will experience the energy in a connection.
I’m currently experiencing this synastry aspect with a sag sun so i’ll start with the positives first. Because both signs are sister signs there tends to be a natural mirroring of each other’s interests/philosophies/energy and so forth. Initially , the mutual understanding appears to be innate & also intuitive because of the qualities and similarities each sign embodies on different ends of the spectrum.
In my current connection the sag sun represents the truth seeker and embodies the free spirited explorer archetype & I the gemini sun represent all mercurial things like information exchange, communication, research and so forth. However, being mutable suns there is a quest for the truth/ pursuit of happiness that we share just on our own terms and more so for gemini this quest tends to be more research based and mercurial than philosophical & jupiterean.
Our sun sign represents our true essence. How we want to shine & how we desire to be perceived in public spaces in this light. The sun also deals with our ego & as mutable suns publicly we both come across as vibrant people who are creatively expressive. But here comes the not so easy part of having this opposition…. the saying opposites attract is quite a literal description of what happens with this aspect.
When aspects such as oppositions/squares/conjunctions show up in a synastry chart we often have a lesson to learn. Be it a karmic lesson or not, the friction from the sun opposition will shine a light on ego & confidence wounds too. Where are we not showing up as our authentic selves? what’s hindering us from shining how we are supposed to? I believe these are the kinds of questions that may arise when you begin to see how your sister sign operates from the same space/energy that you lack.
When our suns flow in polar opposite directions, there can be a clash of energies or egos. Pulling both individuals towards growth but in different directions. With one individual stuck in the past and the other wanting to evolve past the past & this is something i noticed & experienced. the opposition also highlighted that we wanted to show up/shine in similar spaces but in different ways. Simply put, this aspect can either highlight that there is still work to do in order to align your paths or show you that you are on two different life paths.
Because the sun signs are on different ends of the spectrum the reality is that this aspect can lead to arguments, not seeing eye-to-eye on basic matters, being mean to each other, and little to no room for compromise. The beauty of any aspect in a synastry chart is that there is an opportunity to balance the polar opposite energies. but both parties will need to learn how to compromise and not allow ego clashes to dominate communication. But this ultimately depends on how much you are both willing to meet in the middle!
As an air-ruled sun, who’s grown up with low confidence & self esteem i’ve spent a lot of time in my head /talking myself out of my visions & dreams and not believing in myself. One thing i admire from my sister sign is the willingness to take risks & go after what they want whilst believing in themselves and their dreams.
Whilst sag could learn the art of stillness/not being so impulsive, there are lessons for gemini to learn regarding one’s esteem and confidence. How to embody the blinded faith / self-belief (in doses) that guides sag.
Through this connection, I’ve learnt that i can’t make someone feel bad for choosing their life path…even if this means having to let go of each other in order to move onto the next chapter of our lives. I’ve also learnt that I can’t mould them into what i want them to be, they just have to be themselves. their true selves.
So overall, these are some of the key lessons I’ve learnt in the sun opposite sun connection. I do believe that our spirit guides and ancestors know that there are certain lessons we need to evolve from and when the time comes we simply have no choice but to go along with the journey called life.
